Reversible Spike Stitch Pillow Cover

Hi, I am Sarah Zimmerman, the crochet designer behind the blog Repeat Crafter Me. It is such a treat to be guest posting here at Yarnspirations!

I got my hands on the new Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn and I am absolutely loving the texture! It’s a tubular yarn that is soft yet sturdy…almost like it was made from jersey sheets. It’s perfect for home décor items like rugs, placemats, coasters, and PILLOWS! Which is what I’m going to show you today!

This reversible Spike Stitch pillow cover is just that: reversible! On one side you have decorative jagged stripes that are made by using the spike stitch. The other side is just a simple one color, single crochet stitch with button closure. This allows the cover to be removeable for easy cleaning!

If you aren’t familiar with spike stitches, don’t let them intimidate you. Essentially they are elongated single crochets. With a basic single crochet you work directly into the stitch below the new row but with a spike stitch you are going to move your hook down and work into the rows below the new row (row 2 or 3). I have included a short video in the tutorial to help clear up any confusion!
