a year agoI use this to make cleaning cloths. It does not scratch but can handle heavy cleaning. The men use it to clean their vehicles, bugs etc. I don’t recommend for crochet as it does split and I only do straight knit - no patterns.Yes, I recommend this product.

a year agoI bought the Phentex Slipper & Craft yarn and made an outdoor mat with it a few years ago, and I just again washed the mat, which has gone quite a while without being washed this time, and it still looks good as new. I have this mat at my backyard door, and it gets walked on A LOT. With dirty, gardening shoes. The colors are not at all faded, the mat has no holes or frayed areas, and it looks as if it has hardly been used. I'm sold!Yes, I recommend this product.

Ontario, Canada3 out of 5 stars.Yarn seems thinner and skeins seem smaller
- Verified Purchaser
a year agoThis is nice slipper yarn. Mom would use it too, doubled up and it made a nice, thick cushiony slipper. Now, even when doubled the slippers are definitely not as thick and cushiony. Also , I find the size of the skeins are shrinking. Less yarn for the same money.Yes, I recommend this product.

2 years agoPhentex has to be one of the most frustrating yarns to work with! It feels horrible in the hands and on a scale of softness, it's akin to sandpaper. That being said, I have a weird fondness for it. It makes the best, sturdiest exfoliating bath scrubby mitts that don't get moldy or smelly. I've found that using a bamboo crochet hook with a blunt tip makes this yarn a bit more user-friendly. The fibers of this yarn are super durable, but not really spun and split terribly with other more pointed hooks.Helpful?3 out of 5 stars.Very durable but rough
3 years agoNot suitable for anything that will touch bare skin. It's rough and sturdy, holds its shape really well. Difficult to crochet, splits a lot.Helpful?Anonymous3 out of 5 stars.well packaged
5 years agoI bought this to make socks. It is well packaged. The material is strong. However, I do not have carpeting. I have linoleum and hard wood floors. I would not recommend this product for those floors as it poses a risk for slipping and falling. That is why I gave it 3 stars.Helpful?2 out of 5 stars.Phentex slippers
3 years agoWhy is the Phentex slipper yarn thinner than what it used to be years ago? In the year 70 and 80, I used to be able to knit 1 pair of adult slipper and one pair for children with 2 balls for the corn slipper pattern. Now, the yarn seems to be thinner and I can knit only 1 adult pair of slipper. I have approximately 8 feet of yarn left. I have to double the yarn to make the slippers to last longer. Without this approach, they are too thin. Therefore, I have to use 4 balls of yarns to knit a pair of slippers if I want them to last at least a year.Helpful?1 out of 5 stars.Great product gone bad!
9 months agoThe most recent purchases of Phentex Slipper and Craft yarn have been awful. I'm not sure what happened to the product, but it seems like it is not woven well at all. I called the company, but kind of got the run around. I have since spoken to some people who have used this yarn more than I have and all are so disappointed. They will not be purchasing again. I think the company messed up on the weaving and now that sales are dropping, they are discontinuing the yarn. Bad customer service. I will not purchase from Yarnspirations again. No, I do not recommend this product.
