This fun, simple project quickly transforms a t-shirt into a tote. Choose a t-shirt with a fun pattern or graphic to elevate your tote. I recommend using a heavier weight cotton t-shirt with little or no elastane to ensure your t-shirt doesn’t stretch too much when filled. This also makes sewing a little easier. Supplies T-shirt Sewing machine Coats & Clark All Purpose Sewing Thread Iron Pen or hear dissolvable marker Make a tote from a t-shirt 1. Lay your t-shirt flat. 2. Cut off sleeves along armhole seams. 3. Draw a deep neckline that reaches down to about the same depth as the armholes. 4. Cut along the inside of your drawn line so the edge of your fabric is clean. 5. Fold seam allowance over a half inch and iron in place. 6. Using a straight or zigzag stitch on your sewing machine, sew seam allowance down. 7. Flip your shirt inside out. Sew along the hem of your shirt to close your bag. 8. Flip right side out. Done! These totes are so fun and easy to make, enjoy! Amber Groen is a fashion designer located in Toronto, Canada. She loves to knit and mend clothing. She is a graduate of Parsons School of Design.
