After seeing the instructions for the Throwback Thursday Dishcloth, I thought the idea of adding a second yarn on to a dishcloth would work well for our new yarn Scrubby. I had some leftover Scrubby at home and so here are instructions to use Creme de la Creme and Scrubby for a great dishcloth! One side of the dishcloth is soft regular cotton, great for delicate dishes or ones that don't need to be scrubbed hard. The other side has Scrubby on it and is better for dishes that need some help. These instructions make a fairly small dishcloth, since I prefer small ones. If you want a larger dishcloth, start with more chains at the beginning and/or add more rows. Materials Coats Creme de la Creme: 1 ball 710 Pale Pink Red Heart Scrubby: 1 ball 709 Bubblegum Susan Bates Crochet Hook: 5mm (US H-8) Yarn needle (not pictured) Note: One ball each of Creme de la Creme and Scrubby will make multiple dishcloths. Instructions With A, ch 22. Row 1: Hdc into 3rd chain from hook and hdc across. Turn. Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout) and hdc into the back loops of the next stitch. Hdc across going into back loops only. Turn. Row 3: Ch 2 and hdc into the front loops of the next stitch. Hdc across going into front loops only. Turn. Rows 4-10: Repeat Rows 2 and 3, ending with Row 2. Fasten off. One side of the cloth will have the free loops that were unused (left) and the other side will be smoother (right). We will be working on the side with the loops. With B, sc into the free loop in the bottom right corner of the dishcloth. *Sc across in the free loops. Sc into side of hdc and turn dishcloth upside down. Sc across in the free loops on the next row. Sc into side of hdc and turn dishcloth rightside up. Repeat from * until all of the free loops are worked. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Abbreviations: A, B, C = Color A, B, C; ch = chain; hdc = half-double crochet; sc = single crochet
