Lesson 1

CAL with Mikey

In Week 1, we will get started in making the diamond shapes to work our way outward. We have to leave the coffee shop and go directly to the flower clock wheel in the park. From here, our journey will start, we may even stop to feed the fish in the pond. Let’s start in the center and continue to walk the paths around the diamonds and finish off smelling the tulips in this leg of the journey.

Tips

Experiencing the faux popcorn combined with the tulip stitch, we have to be conscious on which side we are crocheting on. Watch the right side (RS) and wrong side (WS).

In Week 2, we will continue to go around the park with our diamonds but let’s take it easy as the hard part is behind you. Oh look, there’s the calm pond and there’s a band on a pontoon playing music that we love. Let’s head over to the dock and get one of those paddle boats. Don’t get the orange boat though, I heard the steering stick gets stuck and you end up going in circles. I’ll let you steer and let’s share some stories as we paddle across to the other side.

Tips

Don't stress the remaining of the diamond. We are creating a mirror effect of what we already know. Follow the assembly diagram for the best results.

Lesson 3

CAL with Mikey

In week 3, we landed on the other side of the park where the path is cobblestones. Pretty to look at but a heel turner if you aren’t paying attention. You have to look down once in a while. We have to check our map for this part of the park. If you end up at the gingerbread house you’ve gone too far. Let’s listen to the sounds of the carousel as we get closer and take a break at the refreshments stand. Will you have 1 scoop or 2 scoops of ice cream on a waffle cone? At the end of this leg, after we’ve had our ice cream, we are going to run through the water park and jump up and down in the shooting water spouts.

Tips

The triangle is just half of a diamond. They are worked in rows. You will see them puzzled in perfectly at the end.

Lesson 4

CAL with Mikey

In week 4, the music box sound of a carousel has us excited. Our blanket is now a hexagon but we have a small problem. We have to ensure the number of people on the ride is balanced on all 6 sides. So we need to count the number of riders per side on the first revolution around. So the carousel will start slow as we count the stitches but the ride will pick up speed. We will be focused on the posts of the stitches of the triangles that are facing out to maintain a count.

Tips

The week where counting on the first round has to be essential so the project will sit down. Be obsessed about counting so you can sit back for the remaining of the project without worry.

Lesson 5

CAL with Mikey

In week 5, it’s time to head home for supper. I know we have had our fill with ice cream but the park will be open again tomorrow. Follow the fence back to the entrance. I’ll walk back with you to ensure you safely find your way. When you look ahead to the front gates, you will see the pendants blowing in the air. It’s been a great day.

Tips

The project is so busy, so we didn't want to overcomplicate the border. Enjoy the simple stitching as we finish things off.
