Make it now, wear it now! Marly designed this vest after being asked for a knit-aong using a light cotton yarn and one that is a warm weather piece that can be enjoyed right away! The goal with this project is to teach the knitter a new way of construction, a new stitch pattern, and a new way to utilize yarn colors to get a beautiful color fade.

Wear the vest over a t-shirt, or tank top, or sundress with a pair of sandals and you will be stylish this summer season.

You’re almost there! Time to bring it all together with the fronts and final finishing. When it comes to finishing for this vest you’ll only have to do a 3 needle bind off at the shoulders and attach the collar to the back neck. Finally, we add a simple trim to the armholes. Follow the knit tutorial below and download Lesson 4 for the written instructions.

Grab your needles and start stitching to add the ultimate summer piece to your wardrobe. This is where it all begins. We are casting on for the entire vest here at the start. To begin, a gauge check is required. To insure a proper fitting garment it’s important your stitches are the same size as written in the pattern. Once you’ve achieved gauge, you can cast on for the vest. Follow the knit tutorial below and download Lesson 1 for the written instructions.

Tips

You’ll be using a long tail cast on for this project! Hold 1 strand of each color together throughout the entire project. When a new ball of yarn needs to be added take care to start at the same point in the color sequence. Slow down or speed up the video to suit your pace!
