Cro-Shayley Makes a Fish and Fisherman Hat

Bait outfit

Any fishing lovers out there? My mom gave my son these adorable baby fisherman overalls and when I opened the gift all I could think about was how cute some baby photography could be! I decided to whip up a fisherman hat so I search Red Heart's free patterns to find the perfect one. I made this last fall but wanted to share it with you now, since it's the perfect time to make your own!

Country Baby Diaper

I came across Red Heart's Country Baby Hat and although this one is meant for a girl, if you don't add the band, it would be a perfect floppy baby boy's fisherman hat. For more details for this pattern, click here.

Fisherman Hat

Accent the fisherman hat with a little bobber or feather hook.

I decided to crochet a fish to tie to a fly fishing reel I found in my parent's basement. Here are the directions I came up with.

Using H8/5.5mm crochet hook
Ch. 4. Sl st in first ch.
Ch. 1 10 sc in ring. Sl st in 1st sc
Ch. 1 2 sc in each sc. Sl st (20 sc)
Ch. 1 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next repeat around (30 sc)
Fin
Sc in next 3 sc
Ch. 1 turn 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc
Ch. 1 turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Fasten off weave in ends.

Using black yarn and yarn needle, stitch an eye.

And here is my sweet boy wearing his fisherman overalls and new fishing hat. Check out his lucky catch!
