What's your little one going to dress up as for Halloween? If you haven't decided, maybe this pattern will help seal the deal. My son is crawling all over the place, pulling himself up and occasionally taking a few steps. I thought how cute it would be to crochet him some pants and stitch a monster face on his bottom using Red Heart Reflective yarn. Yall know I love this yarn and infant pants with designs on the bottom are super cute so I just had to try this! Watch what happens when you take a flash photo. I first began with the legs section of Red Heart's Royal Crochet Onesie free pattern. Since my son is almost 12 months old, I followed the size in parenthesis for 6-12 months. This pattern is worked from legs upwards and the two legs are worked separately and then joined. I used Black Red Heart Super Saver yarn and did not change colors as the pattern calls so I removed this from the pattern adjustment below. LEGS (make 2) With Red Heart Super Saver Black, ch 22 (27, 32)Row 1 (right side): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first hdc) and in each ch across, turn”21 (26, 31) hdc.Rows 2“4: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), hdc in each st across, turn.Row 5 (increase row): Ch 2, *hdc in next 3 (4, 5) sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * to end of row, turn”26 (31, 36) hdc.Rows 6“8: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn.Row 9 (increase row): Ch 2, *hdc in next 4 (5, 6) sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * to end of row, turn”31 (36, 41) hdc.Rows 10“12: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn.Row 13 (increase row): Ch 2, *hdc in next 5 (6, 7) sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * to end of row, turn”36 (41, 46) hdc. Monster's Eyes (make 2)With Red Heart Reflective yarn - Aran, ch 2.Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around”12 sc.Fasten off. Embroider pupil with Super Saver black. Monster's NoseWith Red Heart Reflective yarn - Neon Orange, ch 2.Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.Fasten off. Monster's Mouth With Red Heart Reflective yarn - Purple, ch 13.Row 1: Slip st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, fasten off.Monster's ToothWith Red Heart Reflective yarn - Neon Green, ch 3.Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next ch, ch 1, turn.Rows 2 and 3: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. Fasten off. Place the monster face pieces onto bottom, sew into place and weave in your ends. And there you have it, Baby Halloween Monster Pants.
