In one of my previous Cro-Shayley blogs, I mentioned I was on a Red Heart Reflective Yarn kick. Well here's another awesome quick and easy craft project using this yarn... Reflective Celebration Hat. Just make a cone hat and add a Reflective yarn pom pom and trim to the hat. What a great project to make that is fun for all ages and perfect for any birthday party or holiday get together. Imagine your friends' and families' faces when they see what happens when you take a flash photo of them with this hat on. That's just a surprise in itself! Supplies Needed:RulerCompass or Pencil & StringScissorsGlue Gun & Glue SticksConstruction PaperFabricRed Heart Reflective YarnPom Pom maker Step 1Use a ruler to measure and mark the center of the construction paper. Step 2Use a compass to draw a half circle on the construction paper. If you do not have a compass, use a pencil with a string tied to it. (I used these steps because my compass' max radius width is 6 inches and I wanted my cone hat to be a little wider.) To do this, tie a string around a pencil as seen in the image below. Hold down the other end of the string on the center mark of the construction paper and pull the pencil tight and draw a half circle. Step 3Cut out the half circle. Lay it on a piece of fabric and trace the pattern. Step 4Cut out the half circle traced on the fabric. Step 5Use a glue gun to glue the fabric on to the construction paper. Step 6Roll/fold the two ends of the half circle together to make a cone shape. Once you have adjusted the cone to the desired width, hot glue the hat together at the seam. Step 7Make the pom pom. (I used the Susan Bates Crystalites Pom Pom Tool I had in my craft box.) Step 8Hot glue to pom pom to the top of the cone hat. Hot glue some yarn around the bottom to make a nice trim. See what happens to the yarn when you take a flash photo! ENJOY your next Reflective Celebration!
