Janice's Reflective Scarf

I drove all around town to four different stores to find Reflective yarn. The searching and driving was well worth it! Reflective is a fun yarn that I was first able to feel and touch way back in January 2014 at the Craft and Hobby Mega Show. It wasn't until recently that I was able to find this very special yarn. Boy oh boy was I thrilled to finally be able to purchase this yarn.

What makes this yarn so special is there's a small thread, which appears to be a very light gray in color, which runs throughout the yarn. This is what makes the yarn "Reflective." The yarn is considered a bulky weight yarn. The ball band recommends a size "I" hook, but for the project I'm sharing with all of you today I used a size "P" hook, so your crocheting will go by even quicker!

Questions: "Why should I buy Reflective?" "What's so special about Reflective?"

Answer: If you are walking where it's dark, or if you want your pet to be seen, if you are wearing a hat, scarf, or dog sweater made from Reflective yarn, drivers will be able to see you better when their headlights shine on you. Plus this yarn comes in fun colors.

As soon as I was able to find this yarn in my local store, I bought a bunch and made this scarf. The scarf works up fast and if you're like me you've waited until the last minute to get started on your holiday gifts. This scarf can be worked up in about 2 - 3 hours while you're watching TV.

Supplies

Red Heart Reflective: 1 ball each 8704 Neon Pink A, 8012 Black B, and 8532 Purple C
Susan Bates Crochet Hook: 11.5mm [US P-16]
Yarn needle

Reflective Scarf

With A, ch 82.Row 1: Hdc in second ch from hook and in each ch across -- 80 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each hdc across,
Row 3: Repeat Row 2.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each hdc across. Change to B at the end of the row.
Rows 5-7: With B, repeat Row 2.
Row 8: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each hdc across. Change to C at the end of the row.
Rows 9-12: With C, repeat Row 2.

Fasten off, leaving a 6"" [15 cm] tail. Weave in all ends and you're ready to wear your new scarf or give it as a gift.
