Pocket Note Holder

Supplies & Tools:
1 Susan Bates Hoop la Embroidery Hoop, white, 10”
1 Coats Dual Duty All-purpose thread, 1 spool, to match fabrics
Fabric, cotton, fat quarters, 2 coordinating prints, 1 solid
Felt- cut to size of hoop
3 large buttons, to coordinate with fabrics
Polyester fiber fill
Glue or glue gun/glue sticks
Marking pen
Hand sewing needle
Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Trace the hoop onto the felt. Cut out circle and set aside.

  2. BACKGROUND: From one print, cut a square of fabric 13” x 13”. LARGE POCKET: From the second print fabric cut a rectangle 10” x 13”. SMALL POCKET: From the solid fabric, cut a rectangle 5”x 13”.

  3. Place the Background fabric right side up on a flat surface. Trace the hoop onto the fabric

  4. Fold the Small Pocket rectangle in half lengthwise. Sew button to pocket as pictured. Place pocket onto background fabric aligning the raw edges at the bottom.

  5. Fold the Large Pocket rectangle in half lengthwise. Sew button to pocket as shown. Place pocket onto background fabric vertically overlapping the small pocket and aligning the raw edges at side.

  6. Sew button to background as shown.

  7. Hoop, aligning hoop with marking.

  8. Place hooped note holder face down on a flat surface. Place fiberfill into reverse side of hoop slightly padding the surface.

  9. Glue felt to the back of the hoop.

Thread Note Holder

Supplies & Tools:

1 Susan Bates Hoop La Embroidery Hoop, white, 8”
1 Coats Dual Duty XP Heavy Thread, 1 spool, black
Fabric, cotton, fat quarters, 2 coordinating prints
1/4 yd Fusible fleece
1 sheet Felt
1 large button, black
Glue or Glue gun/sticks
Marking pen
Hand sewing needle
Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Trace the hoop onto the felt. Cut out circle and set aside.

  2. BACKGROUND: From one print, cut a square of fabric 11” x 11”. POCKET: From the second print fabric cut 7” x 11”. Fuse Fleece to background fabric.

  3. Place the Background fabric right side up on a flat surface. Trace the hoop onto the fabric. Starting 1” down from top of circle, mark on the traced circle intervals of ½” across the circle. This will create the parallel lines for the thread. Stop marking intervals 3” from bottom of circle.

  4. Thread the needle with XP Heavy. Knot thread. Take a few small stitches at the first marking, then leaving the thread loose across the circle, take a few small stitches on the other side at the marking directly across the circle. Secure thread. The thread across the circle should have no slack and lie flat against the fabric.

  5. Fold the Pocket rectangle in half lengthwise. Sew button to pocket as shown. Place pocket onto background fabric aligning the raw edges at the bottom

  6. Hoop, aligning hoop with marking making sure thread is secured.

  7. Place hooped note holder face down on a flat surface.

  8. Glue felt to back of hoop.
