Hello crochet friends! I am so excited to share with you this latest baby blanket design created with one of our favorite affordable acrylic yarns, Caron Simply Soft. Caron Simply Soft is my go-to yarn when I want to design something colorful and modern. This line of yarn has the most variety of color that I can depend on. Tiffany’s newest design for Yarnspirations.com, the Crochet Colorful Half-Stripe Baby Blanket. This blanket was all about pairing colors together to make it fresh for the fall. I tend to scroll through Pinterest and Instagram looking for modern designs, from baby nurseries to living rooms, searching for new ideas to bring into my baby blankets. I’m often inspired by a pillow or the design on a rug. I love finding new fresh and modern looks that are popular right now. I took a chance and paired some of my favorite colors from the Caron Simply Soft line to create a fun and different look. I want to share with you how the color combination of the Colorful Half-Stripe Baby Blanket came to be, plus a few of my other color ideas for baby blankets! STEP 1: Choose a theme STEP 2: Select a neutral starting shade STEP 3: Plan for baby I started my color selection by choosing a theme. This blanket was designed for the fall season, so I wanted my color scheme to consist of warm tones to reflect the golden colors we start seeing around us this time of year. To help embody the Fall time, I added in the shade Gold. The next color I select is a neutral shade. I love using Grey Heather as a neutral, as I can pair it with warm or cool tones. Then, I think about the baby this blanket would be made for. I usually plan colors for a gender-neutral version, as well as boy or girl versions. The original Half-Stripe blanket is designed for a baby girl and I selected rose inspired colors: Light Country Peach, Victorian Rose and Persimmon . Gender-neutral Version Baby Boy Version If you wanted to keep this blanket gender-neutral, I suggest keeping Grey Heather, Gold and Persimmon, then subbing the pinks with a neutral shade like Bone and then adding bit of green. We love Woodland Heather, as adds a nice contrast. For a baby boy blanket, I love mixing in shades of blue. Again, I’d keep the Gold and the Grey Heather, then add Country Blue, Light Country Blue and Dark Country Blue.
