I hope you enjoy the latest blog and tutorial for YOU. Learn how to knit the Easy-Going Knit Pullover pattern from the Snowed In Lookbook by Yarnspirations! Easy-Going Knit Pullover This pullover sweater is full of cuddly texture topped off in a cowl collar. The Easy-Going Knit Pullover features two stitch patterns and is knit bottom up in pieces with some joining as you go. I chose this pattern for several reasons. One is that the pattern falls in the EASY SKILL level for knitting and it isn’t your typical garter or stockinette stitch. The second reason is the cowl and stitch pattern in a bulky wool blend, Bernat Roving, just looked too cuddly to pass up! Okay, so maybe THAT grabbed my attention first but the fact that it’s easy and looks harder is always a bonus! The protruding bumps of the Texture Pattern really give it that nubby feeling you want in a chunky sweater without all the moving of stitches like a cable. The third reason I love the Easy-Going Knit Pullover is pretty important. It is sized from XS to 5XL!! What?! That’s enough range in sizes to please most everyone on your list including you and me; I’ll be making a 2/3XL. Let’s make that first sweater of your own an Easy-Going Knit Pullover together! This video features the pattern using Bernat Roving yarn. It is a Bulky 5 weight yarn in a blend of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Roving yarns are spun as a single ply and are soft which produce a beautiful hand or feel to your knits. We will cast on with 21 stitches to help you determine your gauge and measure that up at the end of the video. SIZING TIP: If you are seeing too many stitches per inch then you’ll want to go up a needle size. Go down a needle size if your stitches are a little big and therefore making your stitches per inch less than the pattern states. As always on wearable make a gauge swatch first and then adjust if needed so it will fit. Pattern Easy-Going Knit Pullover Yarn Bernat Roving color Clover (see pattern for number of balls needed for size; range is 8-15 balls). Model Sample featured in color Plum (ooo71). Needles & Supplies US 10.5 (6.5mm) needles. [I used an interchangeable circular needle with a shorter 9” cable for a gauge swatch and will use a longer cable for the sweater.] 1 stitch marker 2 stitch holders soft measuring tape scissors tapestry needle Skill Level Easy Size(s) XS/S – 4/5XL Skills demonstrated in tutorial Longtail Cast-on, Knit Stitch, Purl Stitch, K1tbl, P1tbl, K1below All row repeats for two (2) stitch patterns The Stitches. The stitch patterns are a 2-row repeat for the ribbing and a 4-row repeat for the main sweater. The cuff and edge ribbing are a Twisted Ribbing stitch and we’ll walk through how to twist your knit and purl stitches to get the look. This is a technique used to get a stretchy edge on wearable knits. The Texture Pattern, the main stitch pattern, features a stockinette field with every 4 rows an outward bump creating a horizontal band for the row. The K1below is featured here and we go over it in the tutorial. A K1below makes the fabric bump out. However, the purl between also works to add texture for a slight waffle pattern or square look to subtly appear.
