How To Host a Stocking Party
Looking for a fun, crafty activity to do with friends? Host your very own World’s Biggest Stocking Pinterest Party and help set a World Record! A Pinterest Party is a great way to try out new crafts and DIY projects with your friends. Our World’s Biggest Stocking Pinterest Party board has all the inspiration you’ll need to host your own party to knit and crochet blankets for the World’s Biggest Stocking, from free patterns for tasty snacks to fuel your stitch session. Once you’re finished with your blankets, don’t forget to mail them in to us so that they can be part of the World’s Biggest Stocking!
Here’s how to get started:
Step 1 – Pick your Craft Project!
In this case, your project will be your World’s Biggest Stocking Blanket. You can either pick one blanket for everyone to make, or choose a few options and let your guests pick! You can find all of the World’s Biggest Stocking blanket patterns here.
Step 2 – Tell Your Friends!
Set a time and date for your party, and invite your friends! Creating a Facebook event or sending an email are simple ways to keep everyone in the loop, but you can also send out paper invites or call up each of your friends if you prefer a more personal touch.
Step 3 – Get Your Supplies!
If you’re hosting, make sure to have enough yarn (we recommend Caron Yarns) and printed copies of the patterns for everyone. If your friends are already knitters or crocheters, invite them to bring their own yarn! If you’re buying the yarn for the party, remember to ask your friends to bring money to cover their supply costs.
Step 4 – Organize Your Snacks!
Having an array of delicious snacks is key to any successful Pinterest Party! Go for things that are easy to make, not messy to eat, and good for nibbling on between rows, like this super tasty Slow Cooker Chex Mix by Gimme Some Oven. Bonus — it’s made in the slow cooker, which means you can set it up to cook while you prep for your party! The best way to handle snacks at a Pinterest Party is to make it into a potluck. Send your guests a link to our World’s Biggest Stocking Pinterest Party board for more snack suggestions, and get everyone to pick a dish from the board to bring (or suggest a dish of their own). Make sure to keep track of what everyone’s bringing to avoid duplicates.
Step 5 – Party Time!
Break out the snacks and supplies and start stitching! A blanket can be a big project, especially for new knitters or crocheters, so don’t be discouraged if you or your guests don’t complete your blankets in one sitting. It’s just a reason to host another party in a week or so to stitch together again!
Make sure to take plenty of photos and share your Pinterest Party pictures and stories with on social media using the hashtag #worldsbiggeststocking so that we can see them. Happy stitching!
