Make a Lacy Crochet Shawl
Hey there, Brittany here from B.Hooked! Have you seen the Bernat Lacy Crochet Shawl yet? I am absolutely in love with this work of art.
If you’re looking for a project that will really wow someone, look no further my friend. Not only will this shawl wow your friends and family, it’ll make you look like a master. To the untrained eye, this looks like pure magic!
Here’s the secret – it’s not magic at all. In fact, it’s completely doable for anyone who is comfortable reading a pattern!
I know you’re in on this one so let’s chat about the experience.
First things first, the yarn. Where do I even begin with Bernat Super Value Stripes? This yarn is perfect for so many reasons but the most noticeable reason is the color. Self-striping yarn is the perfect way to take your project level up a notch with exactly no additional effort and that’s precisely the reason the Bernat
To help you on this journey, I filmed a tutorial to walk you through the stitch pattern and help you organize the repeats so your work is a success! Once you get the hang of the repeat, how it flows and how it’s written, it’s smooth sailing. Since every other row uses double treble crochet stitches (watch this great tutorial! if you need extra help), it grows really fast!
Are you ready to dive in yet? I can’t wait to see your shawl! Share a photo with me on Instagram by tagging me @bhooked – I’d love to know what colorway you’re working with. Every Bernat Super Value Stripes color option is a new possibility and I just know you’ll put your own unique stamp on it. Lacy Crochet Shawl is so stunning. The changes in color create a beautiful mosaic!
I chose to work with the colorway called Jungle Green Stripes for my shawl and I couldn’t be more happy with the outcome. I naturally gravitate toward blues, greens and purples and this one incorporated all three!
Now I couldn’t help but incorporate a little twist to my Lacy Shawl. “A border in a different color” I thought? Absolutely! I worked the last six rows in Bernat Super Value, Natural. It’s the perfect complement for Jungle Green Stripes.
The Lacy Crochet Shawl pattern takes you on a fun journey of double trebles and half double crochets stitches. Labeled intermediate, it does require close attention in the first few rows but don’t let that scare you away! The diagram covers the first 13 rows, exactly enough to get in a rhythm and start memorizing the pattern.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! I want nothing more than for you to feel the great sense of accomplishment when you complete a work of art like the Bernat Lacy Crochet Shawl.
All the best,
