created by Handmade Charlotte The tiny notes and envelopes will make anyone who receives them smile. You can write sweet words of inspiration and then tuck the notes into the double-stitched envelopes. Send them in a child’s backpack, use them as a shower favor, or simply pass one to a friend. The Envelopes are really easy to make–we’re going to show you a cool double thread trick that makes the stitching pop with contrast. We used our favorite thread Coats and Clark Dual Duty XP to create the punchy stitching. Materials: 1/4 yard fabric Fusible interfacing Coats & Clark Dual Duty XP Thread Scissors Step One Iron the fusible interfacing to fabric of your choice following the manufacturers directions. Cut 5 in. x 5 in. squares from the fused fabric. You should have a total of 8 squares. Thread two threads through the machine just as you would one thread–both through the eye of the needle at the same time. Wind bobbin with two threads at the same time and load like you always do. Step Two Sew all the way around the envelope on the edge using your double thread. Turn the envelope to face you (like a diamond facing you). Fold like a diaper andpress with iron. Stitch down the two sides to secure envelope. Step Three Press envelope flap with iron. Your sweet envelopes are complete! Make a stack for your mom and tell her to keep them in her purse to remind her of how much you love her. Materials (for cards) Card stock Glue Coats & Clark Dual Duty XP Thread Scissors Step One Cut 8 cards using card stock. Each card should measure 2x 3 inches. Follow double thread instructions above. Step Two Stitch up the center of the card. Fold card in half. We would love to see your projects–please share!
