Making the Braid

Step 1

Cut 6 strands of your chosen Caron One Pound color to 14 inches and tape all to a sturdy surface at one end.

Group the 6 strands of yarn into 3 sets of 2 and braid the 3 sets of two strands all the way down from the taped end to the loose end.

Tightly knot the braids at both ends.

Making the Pompom

Step 1

Wrap yarn around your hand around 75 times or as many times as you'd like. Remember the more yarn you wrap around your hand the fluffier the pompom. Afterward, cut yarn.

Step 2

Slip the yarn off your hand and tie tightly in the center with a separate strand of yarn then cut through the looped strands on either end of the tie.

Trim and fluff the pompom edges so they are even.

Step 1

Glue a pompom onto each end of the braid and repeat as many times as you like in their favorite colors!

Wrap your Caron Simply Soft yarn around your hand around 10 times or as many times as you'd like. The more yarn you wrap around your hand the bigger your tassel will turn out.

Cut the yarn tail and cut another short piece of yarn.

Slip the yarn off your hand and tightly wrap the shorter piece of yarn around an inch from one end of the wound yarn.

Cut the looped yarn on the longer end of the tassel, leaving the shorter end uncut.

Step 5

Take the string of yarn you intend to wrap around your gift and string it through the shorter looped end of the tassel. Tie it tightly and trim the end.
