Tips
An important part of crocheting is achieving the correct tension. Tension is the amount of stitches and rows you need to knit within given measurements so you end up with a proper knit project. You can always go up or down in needle sizes to achieve proper tension.

Foundation Chain

It’s also helpful to use stitch markers or safety pins so you can keep track of the amount of chains you’ve created. I suggest you place one every 25 stitches.
Single Crochet
Tips
With a single crochet you do not yarn over before putting your hook through the work, you simply work into the stitch or chain.
Half Double Crochet
Tips
You’ll note that when you work a half double crochet stitch there is a distinctive bar that forms in the stitch. I show in the video how to use this bar to create texture in your work by working this stitch through the front loops.
Double Crochet
Tips
Since a double crochet stitch is taller than a single crochet stitch you do need to yarn over before putting your hook through the stitch or chain.
