Baseball season is fast approaching and if you're planning to attend any games during the cold winter, I've got the cutest quick and easy hat and bootie set for your baby. With Red Heart Soft Yarn in White, to make the hat, I used Red Heart's Turtle Newborn Photo Prop pattern. Since my baby is 3 months old, I went by the large size and ended up repeating the last round a few more times to go over baby's ears. Then, I cut a string of Red Heart Soft Yarn Cherry Red and using a yarn needle I wove ""V's"" to make the hat look like a baseball. This takes a little practice but my suggestion would be to make one side of the ""baseball seam"" and then mirroring the other side, threading the top and bottom of the V's on the same row. Then with both yarns used for the hat, I made matching booties with Red Heart's Baby Boots pattern. I switched from Red Heart Soft Yarn White to Cherry Red for Rounds 9 & 10 to give the boots a red trim. I like this bootie pattern because once you weave the ""Tie"" around the bootie and slip it on your baby's feet, you can tighten the ""Tie"" preventing the bootie from slipping off baby's foot. And there you have it...matching baseball hat and booties.
