What you may or may not know about me, is I really enjoy sparkles, and glitter. I like incorporating a bit of glamour in my everyday life. I think the more shimmer, shine, and glitz something has the better. Whether it be in fashion, home decor, or simply when you need a gift for a friend. One of my favorite yarns to work with is Red Heart Shimmer. The reason it's one of my favorite yarns is because even though there is a thin metallic thread running through the yarn, it isn't stiff or scratchy. The yarn is perfect for making scarves and other accessories. Shimmer drapes really well, and is easy to work with, it glides on my crochet hook, and can be found at your local craft store. Currently Shimmer can be purchased in fifteen (15) different colors. Shimmer is available in both solid, and variegated colors. Shimmer is a size 4 worsted weight yarn and can be machine washed and dried. It's 97% acrylic and 3% metallic. I wanted to make a gift for some friends and I needed something rather quickly. Each headband can be worked up in less than 1 hour. For this particular headband here are the supplies needed: Crochet Hook size "I" 5.50mm 1 ball of Red Heart Shimmer Tapestry needle (for weaving in the ends) ***Please note this particular headband is made to cover your ears, also I crochet rather tightly. Row 1: Chain 15, dc into the 4th st from hook. (first ch 3 from hook count as 1 stitch) *dc in each st across. You should have a total of 12 stitches. Rows 2 - 28: Chain 3 to allow for turning, then dc in each st across. You should have a total of 12 stitches for your headband/ear cover. *** Please note you might have to adjust the number of rows depending on the person's head size. At the end of row 28, DO NOT fasten off. You will be slip stitching your headband together. Make sure to turn your headband so the wrong side is facing outward, then slip stitch your ends together. One you have connected your headband, cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail and weave in the ends. Happy Stitching! Janice :)
