Red Heart Heat Wave Review

Red Heart Heat Wave looks and acts like a delightful, lightweight, easy to stitch worsted weight acrylic – perfect for all sorts of projects. But when it’s exposed to UV light, it does something special – it heats up to keep you up to 12°F warmer!

This means that hats, sweaters, mittens, lap blankets, jackets – anything you wear or cozy up outdoors is perfect for this yarn. And indoors, away from UV light, it’s a lovely soft yarn that feels much like Red Heart With Love.

I also designed the Bright Chevron Borderless Blanket with Red Heart Heat Wave – I made the baby size, but instructions through King are included! I loved using this yarn for this piece as the colors are indeed so bright and cheerful, and I know that this blankie will keep my new baby cousin extra warm this winter.

And I have to mention the Batwing Lace Sweater, which I made using Heat Wave’s lovely neutrals, Passport, and Sandy Shores. It’s big, cozy, comfy – and makes venturing outside much nicer right now!

I very much enjoy using Red Heart Heat Wave any time I want to make an easy-care item in worsted weight yarn that will be used or worn outdoors. It’s wonderful against the skin, but surprisingly lightweight on. Give it a try this season!
