Intermediate Join us for the Better Together Crochet Along with Mikey of The Crochet Crowd! Mikey and Crochet Crowd collaborator Jeanne virtually designed the Better Together Afghan by tossing stitch ideas to each other back and forth. The Better Together CAL is all about collaboration and adding in your own special touch!Follow along each week as we virtually crochet the afghan together! As you go along, make sure to share your progress on the Yarnspirations Stitch Squad Facebook Group and tag @Yarnspirations on Instagram Week 1: Let’s get started on lesson one! Mikey is starting off our Better Together Afghan. To start, Mikey decided to create a circle, then tossed it over to Jeannie who shaped the circle into a square. Once the circle is framed into a square, we add a round of treble overlay stitches, courtesy of Jeannie. Adding the treble to the circle-square, is like adding icing on a collaborative cake! Week 2: The Catherine's Wheel Week We start on lesson two with Mikey’s great obsession, the Catherine’s Wheel stitch! When designing the Summer CAL afghan, it was Mikey’s goal to incorporate the popular stitch. Mikey also incorporated some color work to make the stitch pop. The Catherine’s Wheel Stitch is beautiful, and after some practice it is easy to master.Tune in next week, as Mikey tosses the afghan back to Jeannie! Download Lesson 2 Don't have supplies? To incorporate a touch of her favorites, Jeannie added the houndstooth stitch, which requires us to turn the afghan to the wrong side every other row. She also added the alpine stitch, giving the afghan a gorgeous set of twisted points. Join us next week to see how Mikey steps it up! Download Lesson 3 Don't have supplies? Lesson four balances together with lesson three, allowing them to work together in harmony. Like Mikey and Jeannie’s friendship, they found that by adding balance into their afghan they were naturally creating something wonderful.Join us next week for the final lesson! Before finishing off the afghan, Jeannie added another section of the Catherine’s Wheel Stitch. Adding in another section of this gorgeous stitch helps connect the beginning to the end. Like any great dance, the afghan must have a great closing number. Jeanne finished the afghan with criss-cross single crochet, which resemble the shape of kisses on the diagram. With a kiss goodbye, the afghan is complete. The lessons learned together will last a lifetime, and this afghan will be forever cherished.
