crochet along Penny and Benny Knotted Bears Hosted by Repeat Crafter Me Get Supplies skill level: Easy Β Crochet Join us for the Penny and Benny Knotted Bears Crochet Along, designed and hosted by Sarah Zimmerman from Repeat Crafter Me! Get your yarn and hooks ready to stitch up this bear-y, cute, lovey set. Over the course of three weeks, weβll be stitching up this paw-sitively adorable toy set in Bernat Softee Chunky yarn. Penny the Polar Bear and Benny the Brown Bear are half stuffed animal, half warm blanket, and double the cuteness! This simple design incorporates a classic amigurumi stuffed head with a flat body and knots tied on the end of the arms and legs, creating a cuddly toy that's equal parts rustic and modern. Follow each week as we bring this adorable toy project together in separate parts. Make sure to share your progress along the way on the Yarnspirations Stitch Squad Group, tag @Yarnspirations on Instagram, and tag your posts with #YARNSPO. We're excited to see how you customize your bears! Β Weekly Highlights Week 1 Week 1 Week 1 Select Lessons Lesson 1: Snout, Ears, Head Lesson 2: Body & Snowflake Embellishment Lesson 3: Arms & Legs lesson 1: Snout, Ears, Head Download Lesson 1 Welcome to the first lesson of our Penny & Benny Knotted Bears CAL! We're roaring to get started, aren't you? Follow along as Sarah demonstrates how to get our cuddly cuties started. This project is worked from the top down, and we'll begin our bears by stitching up the snout, ears, and head. When the headpiece is almost complete, we'll attach our snout between the 8th and 13th rounds. Using a tapestry needle, stitch the eyes on either side of the snout, as demonstrated in the video tutorial. Attach the ears to the sides of the head, approximately three rounds down from the top of the bear's head. Stuff the head lightly with polyfill, complete your last round, and stitch the headpiece closed. Don't furr-get to avoid the final rows while seaming, as we'll be working into those stitches next week to build the body of our bear. Β lesson 2: Body & Snowflake Embellishment Download Lesson 2 Brrr, it's starting to feel a lot like sweater weather! This week, we'll learn to create the flat body that gives this bear project a nostalgic ragdoll look. Working into the final row we created in our previous lesson, we'll build our bear from the collar down by adding two single crochets to each stitch around. Watch this piece come to life row by row through single crochet increases, leaving two arm holes for us to complete next week. Follow along with the video tutorial to learn how to add a fun snowflake embellishment to the sweater using simple embroidery techniques. Β lesson 3: Arms & Legs Download Lesson 3 Are you feeling knotty or nice? Grab your hook and supplies, we're back for the final week of our CAL! Our third lesson is all about creating the knotted arms and legs to finish up our bear loveys with a special touch. We'll create our legs one at a time by working into the final rows of the piece we made last week. Seam each leg closed and follow along to see how Sarah finishes off with a knot just above the paw. The arms are added using a similar technique, working into the arm holes we left last week.
