Pattern has error. For 4 yarn overs you need 4 st knitted tog not 2. Otherwise there are too many st. Use 4 & 4 & it will work. Needs to be corrected.

Hi It sounds like you are working on the 5th row of the pattern. Once you have completed the first repeat you need to go back to the * and repeat between the * and * until there is 1 st left. The repeat starts and ends with 2 K2tog giving you 4 sts decreased and 4 sts increased. *(K2tog) twice. (Yo. K1) 4 times. (K2tog) twice. Rep from * 5th row: K1. *(K2tog) twice. (Yo. K1) 4 times. (K2tog) twice. Rep from * to last st. K1.

I have started knitting this very pretty pattern but, after doing the first yo row, I have become confused.  How do I knit the following row (row 6)? I knitted every stitch, including each yo stitch and have ended up with 20 extra stitches. Help!

The 5th row of the pattern reads as follows: 5th row: K1. *(K2tog) twice. (Yo. K1) 4 times. (K2tog) twice. Rep from * to last st. K1. I have separated the section between * and *, this section is repeated across the row. Take note that you will have K2tog twice at the end of the repeat as well as a K2tog twice at the beginning of the repeat for a total of 4 - K2tog when you work across the row. good luck.
