I am confused when I get to the leg opening. It says (RS) pat across 3(5,7,9)sts. Are we supposed to do something here? What is this information for? Because then it says Sl st across next 5(5,5,7). I'm just confused with the directions from this point on

Hi. The dog coat pattern is written in 4 different sizes, each number stands for a different size. You have been working a pattern of -- 1 dc in next st. 1 sc in next st. -- this is the pattern that is being referred to. Continue working this pattern over the number of sts for your size. Good luck.

I am not understanding the leg sections. You answered one question that said to use 3 balls of yarn, but there are only 2 legs. When I am using a separate ball of yarn, how many do I chain? I am lost at this part of the directions.

    Asked by: kater
Yes, there are two legs but you have the belly and the back. The belly is worked in 2 sections and the back is 1 section. The belly seam is sewn together at finishing. Leg Openings: Next row: (RS). Pat across 3 (5-7-9) sts this is the 1st side of the underbody . Sl st across next 5 (5-5-7) sts the stitches that are slipped will be for one of the leg openings. . Ch 1. Pat across 23 (29- 37-55) sts these sts are for across the back of the coat. Sl st across next 5 (5-5-7) sts second leg opening. Pat to end of row 2nd side of the underbody. Once the coat is completed you will sew the seam at the underbody. Note: All Leg sections are worked at the same time using separate balls of yarn for each section. If you like you can work each leg section piece separate, make sure the leg opening edge measures the same for both legs for the size you are making. Work 1 (1½-1½-2½) ins [2.5 (4-4-6) cm] in pat, ending with RS row. Once each section has been worked for the proper number of inches for the size you are making it will all be joined back together.

making the mediumsize but numbers are wrong. Leg, r1, first 5, chaining 5, then doing 29, chaining 5 and 'pat to end ( I calculatethis to be only 3 sts) next row says I shouldhave 49, I have 47 what am idoing wrong?

Stuck on leg openings-pg. 2 work 1" in pat, do you go all the way over the slip stitches? then you are filling in the leg opening? doesn't make sense. Please help.

I would like more information about this pattern. Shouldn't there only be 2 leg sections? Or are the 3 balls of yarn for the neck and both legs?

Using an H hook, I have 7 sc in 2 inches and 6 rows in 2 inches for my swatch. There’s definitely something off as my swatch is half the size indicated in the pattern directions.

    Asked by: Cataloger25
There is an error on this pattern. Sorry, we will have it updated. The following is the gauge from the original pattern. 13 sts and 10 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.

I’m trying to figure out gauge. It says, “7 sps and 6 rows = 4 inches.” Is that 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc?

    Asked by: Cataloger25
HI. I think that should read 7 sts not sps. How is your gauge if you go by 7 sts? Let me know so that we can update the pattern. Sorry for this inconvenience.
