Stepping Stones Crochet Pullover is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from sizing and unclear pattern I have been crocheting for 18 years. This is supposed to be a beginner project. It certainly made me feel like a beginner. I had to frog this multiple times. The directions for inserting the sleeves made confused and I kept putting them in and taking them out and then giving up after consulting with someone else on the sleeves and using a sewing technique instead. I finally managed to finish it and not surprisingly with spare directions on the collar. I may have to go back and redo that portion because I don't really care for a half off the shoulder sweater. The sizing suggestions are inaccurate. This pattern was so frustrating I definitely would not recommend to a beginner.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Badly written pattern. I'm an experienced crocheter but I've half made this pullover three times and had to pull it out. Good job I'm patient. Ok, it's a free pattern, so hard to say it's not value for money, but the number of wasted hours makes it feel that way. Firstly, the tensions given are way out. Even with the correct number of stitches, 10 rows only measure 3", not 4". The vertical measurements are given in inches, so this isn't critical for me, except that the sleeve increase happens a little too quickly, but a novice might end up with pieces far too wide if they tried to match the tension. Secondly, the strangely fluctuating stitch numbers per row give a wavy edge which does not sew up neatly. This is especially bad on the sleeve increases, which also leave big holes reminiscent of a line of buttonholes up each side of the already lumpy seam (conveniently hidden on the model). Thirdly, not all the instructions are clear. For example, saying "cont even in pat" doesn't explain which row of the pattern to start on. Fourthly, the size increments don't seem right. For example, the sleeves for the larger sizes get smaller, not larger. I've re-written the pattern for my 4th attempt. Here goes!

Hi, I'm having trouble following instructions for sleeves. Then when I watched video, there are different instructions on printed pattern for row 4, then 5 says repeat 4 instead of 3.please clarify.

    Asked by: Lisaroy22
Hi. There were some corrections made to this pattern that were not included on the video. Follow the written info, it is the correct version. If you need further assistance please let me know.

Thanks for the help on the sleeve increase. I've now reached the end of my extra 7 rows in contrast C and counted 34 stitches by the end of it. The instructions say their should be 52 stithes? That seems too wide? or am I doing something wrong?

    Asked by: Kristeenahh
Remember you are working from the cuff to the shoulder. On page 4 it shows the approx. width of the sleeve once you have 52 sts. (16 to 19") depending on the size.

Hi there - I can't seem to figure out how to get the collar ? I didn't see it in the video tutorial, am I missing it in the downloadable pattern?  Are there other pictures or tutorials I could refer too?

    Asked by: KnotAboutIt
The neckband instructions are available on the 4th page of the pattern. FINISHING Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With A, ch 7. 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 6 sc. 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sctbl in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep last row until Neckband measures length to fit around neck edge, when slightly stretched, sewing in place as you work. Sew left shoulder and neckband seam.

I am also having the same problem with the sleeve increase. I have followed the downloadable pattern exactly, but when I get to the end of the 5th row, it does not seem to work out to rep from the 3rd row. I would love some extra help with this step!

    Asked by: Kristeenahh
There is some wording at the beginning and end of the 3rd to 5th rows that you need to be pay close attention to. I have added a little info below in these 3 rows. 3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in THE VERY first hdc. (SKIP NEXT 2 HDC) *2 hdc in next sp between 2 groups of 2 hdc. Rep from * across ending with 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn. 4th row: Ch 2. 2 hdc in THE VERY first hdc. 2 hdc in first sp between LAST hdc and next group of 2 hdc. *2 hdc in next sp between 2 groups of 2 hdc. Rep from * across ending with 2 hdc in last sp between last group of 2 hdc and LAST hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Turn. 5th row: As 3rd row. Keeping cont of Sleeve Stripe Pat, rep 3rd to 5th rows for pat 7 times more.

The downloadable pattern and the pattern shown in the video for the sleeves are different. I'm having trouble getting an increase for the sleeve with either one. Are there any pictures or further details to help?

    Asked by: Mojo_wolf
Hello, The increase for the sleeve is worked in the 4th row (2 hdc in first hdc and at the end 2 hdc in last hdc). If you need further assistance please contact our office.
