Don't make thisPhoto looks great but after it's made it look terrible. Made x-large and it was so heavy!!! You would never want to put it in a suitcase because of the weight of this fabric. Tore the whole thing apart.

Great Pattern!Well it took me many tries, but I finally got it exactly. Great pattern. Making another one!
looking at the written instructions when you chain 54 at the start, then first row starting in the second ch. this gives you 53 stitches. When you get to row 2 with the chain 5 treble. It is not possible for it to come out with a even with a skipped stitc

The Ch 5 at the beginning of the row counts as 1 treble crochet (tr) as well as a ch-1 space (sp).
Below is a little more info, hope this helps.
Proceed in pattern (pat) as follows:
1st row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. – at the end of the row you will have 53 (63-79) stitches (sts).
2nd row: Ch 5 [counts as 1 treble crochet (tr) and ch-1 space (sp)]. Skip first sc. – the sc under the tr is counted as being worked into. Now skip the next sc which is the first sc.--- *1 tr in next sc. Ch 1. Skip next sc. Repeat (rep) from * to last sc. 1 tr in last sc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each tr and ch-1 sp to end of row. Turn. – at the end of the row you will have 53 (63-79) stitches (sts).
