INSTRUCTIONS


The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Note: When working from charts, carry yarn not in use loosely across WS of work but never over more than 5 sts. When it must pass over more than 5 sts, weave it over and under color in use on next st or at center point of sts it passes over. The colors are never twisted around one another.

BACK
With MC and smaller needles, cast on 94 (102-110) sts.
**1st row: (RS). K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P2. *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows twice more.
With C, rep 1st row once.
With D, rep 2nd and 1st rows once.
With C, rep 2nd row once.**
With MC, rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times more and inc 5 sts evenly across last row. 99 (107-115) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 16 (16½-17) ins [40.5 (42-43) cm] ending with RS facing for next row and inc 4 (4-6) sts evenly across last row. 103 (111-121) sts.
Work Chart I reading knit rows from right to left and purl rows from left to right until row 4 of chart is complete.
Raglan shaping: Cont working in Chart I, cast off 6 sts beg next 2 rows. 91 (99-109) sts.
Dec 1 st each end of needle on next and every alt row to 35 (37- 41) sts. Slip rem 35 (37-41) sts on a st holder.

LEFT FRONT
***With MC and smaller needles, cast on 46 (50-54) sts.
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
With MC, rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times more inc 3 sts evenly across last row. 49 (53-57) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 16 (16½-17) ins [40.5 (42-43) cm] ending with RS facing for next row and inc 2 (2-3) sts evenly across last row. 51 (55-60) sts.***

Raglan shaping: Cont working in Chart I, cast off 6 sts beg next row. 45 (49-54) sts.
Dec 1 st at raglan edge on next and every alt row until row 32 (36- 40) of Chart I is complete.
Neck shaping: Next row: (RS). Sl1. K1. psso. Work 19 (20-22) sts. K2tog (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem 9 (10-11) sts on a st holder.

RIGHT FRONT
Work from *** to *** as given for Left Front.
Work Chart I until row 5 of chart is complete.
Raglan shaping: Cont working in Chart I, cast off 6 sts beg next row. 45 (49-54) sts.
Dec 1 st at raglan edge on next and every alt row until row 33 (37- 41) of Chart I is complete.
Neck shaping: Next row: (WS). Work 21 (22-24) sts. P2togtbl (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem 9 (10-11) sts on a st holder.
Next row: Sl1. K1. psso. Work in chart to last 2 sts. K2tog.
Cont working in chart to end of chart, dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows, then every alt row 1 (1-2) time(s), AT THE SAME TIME cont dec 1 st at raglan edge every alt row from previous dec.
Next row: Sl1. K1. psso. Fasten off.

SLEEVES
With MC and smaller needles, cast on 62 sts.
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
With MC, rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times more, inc 5 sts evenly across last row. 67 sts.
Change to larger needles and work in stocking st inc 1 st each end of needle on 3rd and every following 6th rows until there are 87 (93-97) sts, taking inc sts into stocking st.
Cont even until Sleeve from beg measures 16½ (17-17½) ins [42 (43-44.5) cm] ending with RS facing for next row and inc 4 sts evenly across last row. 91 (97- 101) sts.
Work Chart II reading knit rows from right to left and purl rows from left to right until row 4 of chart is complete.
Raglan shaping: Cont working in Chart II, cast off 6 sts beg next 2 rows. 79 (85-89) sts.
Dec 1 st each end of needle on next and every alt row to 43 (37- 31) sts, then every row to 7 (9-11) sts ending with RS facing for next row. Slip rem 7 (9-11) sts on a st holder.

FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry.
Neckband: Sew raglan seams. Sew side and sleeve seams. With RS of work facing, smaller needles and MC, K9 (10-11) from right front st holder. Pick up and knit 11 (11-15) sts up right front neck edge. K7 (9-11) from right sleeve st holder. K35 (37-41) from back st holder, dec 3 (3-1) st(s) evenly across. K7 (9-11) from left sleeve st holder. Pick up and knit 11 (11-15) sts down left front neck edge. K9 (10-11) sts from left front st holder. 86 (94-114) sts.
1st row: P2. *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows once more, then 1st row once.
Next row: With C, as 2nd row.
Next 2 rows: With D, as 1st and 2nd rows once.
Next row: With C, as 1st row.
With MC, beg with a 2nd row, work in (K2. P2) ribbing until neckband from pick up row measures 5 ins [12.5 cm] ending on a 1st row. Cast off loosely in ribbing.
Fold neckband in half to WS and pin in position.
Zipper edging: With RS of work facing, smaller needles and MC, pick up and knit 78 (80-82) sts along side edges of neckband and Left Front between fold line of neckband and cast on edge. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Work zipper edging for Right Front to correspond to zipper edging for Left Front.
Sew in zipper. Sew neckband in position.
