With 2 strands of yarn, cast on 51 (55-61-65) sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows of (K1. P1) ribbing twice more and inc 5 sts evenly across last row. 56 (60-66-70) sts.
Beg with knit row, work in stocking st for 2 ins [5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Proceed as follows:
**Next row: Purl.
Beg with purl row, cont in stocking st for 4 ins [10 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. **

Proceed as follows:
1st row: K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows of (K1. P1) ribbing until neckband from pick up row measures 2 ins [5 cm], ending with a RS facing for next row.
Break 1 strand of yarn. With 1 strand of yarn, work in stocking st for 2 ins [5 cm], ending with a RS facing for next row. Cast off loosely.
Armbands: With RS of work facing and 2 strands of yarn, pick up and knit 30 (32-33-35) sts up armhole from side seam to shoulder seam. Pick up and knit 30 (32-33-35) sts down from shoulder seam to side seam.
Work 3 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for Back. Cast off in ribbing.
Zipper edging: With RS facing of work facing and 2 strands of yarn, pick up and knit 66 (69-72-74) sts along right front from cast on edge to top of neckband foldline. Cast off. Rep for other side.
Right Pocket: With 2 strands of yarn, cast on 18 sts. Beg with knit row, work in stocking st until work from beg measures 2 ins [5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Proceed in pat, as given for Back, for 2½ ins [6.5 cm], ending with WS facing for next row.
Next row: P2tog. Pat to end of row.
Next row: Work in pat even.
Rep last 2 rows to 11 sts then cont even until pocket from beg measures 8 ins [20.5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
Left Pocket: With 2 strands of yarn, cast on 18 sts. Beg with knit row, work in stocking st until work from beg measures 2 ins [5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Proceed in pat, as given for Back, for 2½ ins [6.5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Next row: Sl1. K1. psso. Pat to end of row.
Next row: Work even in pat.
Rep last 2 rows to 11 sts then cont even until pocket from beg measures 8 ins [20.5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
Sew side seams and armband seams. Fold neckband in half to WS, and pin in position.
Sew zipper in position, inserting between neckband layers and placing top of zipper at neckband foldline. Sew neckband seam loosely. Sew pockets in position, as illustrated.
