Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) circular knitting needle 40" [100 cm] long or size needed to obtain tension.

GAUGE

19 sts and 25 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

Stripe Pat

With A, work 10 rows stocking st.
With B, work 4 rows stocking st.
With A, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
With C, work 8 rows stocking st.
With D, work 6 rows stocking st.
With C, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
With E, work 12 rows stocking st.
With F, work 6 rows stocking st.
With E, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
With B, work 10 rows stocking st.
With A, work 4 rows stocking st.
With B, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
With D, work 8 rows stocking st.
With C, work 6 row stocking st.
With D, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
With F, work 12 rows stocking st.
With E, work 6 rows stocking st.
With F, knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges).
These 116 rows form Stripe Pat.

 

With B, cast on 204 sts. Do not join in rnd. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
Knit 7 rows, noting 1st row is WS and inc 27 sts evenly across last row. 231 sts.

Proceed in Stripe Pat as follows:
1st row: (RS). With A, K5. K2tog. *K8. (K1. yo. K1) all in next st. K8. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Rep from * to last 24 sts. K8. (K1. yo. K1) all in next st. K8. ssk. K5.
2nd and alt rows (except garter ridges): K5. Purl to last 5 sts. K5.
First 2 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep last 2 rows, noting garter st ridges, until work from beg measures 60" [152.5 cm], ending on a WS row.
Next row: With appropriate color, knit, dec 27 sts evenly across. 204 sts. Knit 5 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS).
