Center dec (worked over 3 sts) = slip next 2 sts as if to K2tog, K1, then pass slipped sts over knit st – center of 3 sts should be on top of decrease (2 sts have been decreased)

Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) circular knitting needle 36" [90 cm] long or size needed to obtain tension.

GAUGE

19 sts and 25 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

 

With A, cast on 227 sts. (See chart on page 2). Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:

1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: Knit.
3rd row: K1. Purl to last st. K1.
4th row: K1. (K1. yo) 3 times. (ssk) twice. Center dec. (K2tog) twice. *yo. (K1. yo) 5 times. (ssk) twice. Center dec. (K2tog) twice. Rep from * to last 4 sts. (yo. K1) 3 times. K1.
5th row: With B, as 3rd row.
6th to 8th rows: Knit.
9th and 10th rows: As 3rd and 4th rows.
11th row: As 3rd row.
12th to 14th rows: As 2nd to 4th rows.
15th row: With C, as 3rd row.
16th to 18th rows: Knit.
19th and 20th rows: With B, as 3rd and 4th rows.
