Contrast C Timber (10013) 3
Size 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Size 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) circular knitting needle 36 ins [90 cm] long.

GAUGE

14 sts and 44 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.

INSTRUCTIONS

STRIP 1 (make 3).

With A, cast on 21 sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: K1. *K1below. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: K2. *K1below. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
5th to 44th rows: Rep 1st to 4th rows 10 times more.
45th row:With A, knit.
46th row:With B, as 2nd row.
47th row:With B, knit.
48th row:With A, as 4th row.
49th to 88th rows: Rep 45th to 48th rows 10 times more.
89th row: With A, knit.
90th row: With C, as 2nd row.
91st row:With C, knit.
92nd row:With A, as 4th row.
93rd to 132nd rows: Rep 89th to 92nd rows 10 times more.
Rep last 132 rows twice more.
With A, cast off knitwise (WS).

FINISHING
Using flat seam, sew Strips tog as follows: 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1.
Side edging: With RS facing, circular needle and A, pick up and knit 193 sts evenly along side edge of Afghan.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row:With C, K1. *K1below. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
3rd row: With C, knit.
4th row:With A, knit.
Cast off knitwise (WS).
Rep across opposite side edge.
Top and Bottom edging: With RS facing, circular needle and A, pick up and knit 157 sts evenly across top edge of Afghan.
Work as for side edging.
Rep across bottom edge of Afghan.
