GAUGE

17 sts and 34 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in garter st.

INSTRUCTIONS

Square I
With MC, cast on 55 sts.
1st row:(WS). Knit.
2nd row:With Color 1, K26. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Place marker on last st. K26.
3rd row: With Color 1, knit.
4th row:With MC, knit to 1 st before marked st. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Knit to end of row.
5th row:With MC, knit.
6th row and 7th rows:With Color 1, as 3rd and 4th rows.
Rep last 4 rows to 3 sts.
Next row: Sl1. K2tog. psso. Fasten off.
Joining Squares: Make 5 Squares for Row 1 as shown on Diagram.
1st square of Row 2:With MC, cast on 27 sts. Pick up and knit 28 sts along first Square of Row 1. 55 sts.
Beg with a 1st row, work as given for Square I.
2nd to 5th Squares of Row 2:With MC, pick up and knit 27 sts along first joined Square of Row 1. Pick up and knit 28 sts along next Square of Row 1. 55 sts.
Beg with a 1st row, work as given for Square I.
6th Square of Row 2:With MC, pick up and knit 27 sts along last joined Square of Row 1. Cast on 28 sts. 55 sts.
Beg with a 1st row, work as given for Square I.
1st to 5th Squares of Row 3:With MC, pick up and knit 27 sts along first joined Square of Row 2. Pick up and knit 28 sts along next Square of Row 2. 55 sts.

Join Squares following Diagram into 15 rows in following color sequence:
