GAUGE

20 sts and 26 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

BACK
**With smaller needles, cast on 103 (114-121-131) sts.
Knit 11 rows (garter st) noting that first row is WS, and inc 5 sts evenly across last row. 108 (119- 126-136) sts.
Change to larger needles and work in stocking st until work from beg measures 9½ (10-10½- 11) ins [24 (25.5-26.5-28) cm], ending with WS facing for next row.
Proceed as follows:

FRONT
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
Cont in seed st until work from beg measures 23 (24-25-26) ins [58.5 (61-63.5-66) cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Neck shaping: Pat across 46 (51- 54-58) sts (neck edge). Turn.
Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 9 (10-10-10) rows. 37 (41-44-48) sts.
Cont even in seed st until work from beg measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending with RS facing for next row.
Shoulder shaping: Cast off 18 (20-22-24) sts beg next row.
Work 1 row even. Cast off rem 19 (21-22-24) sts.
With RS of work facing slip next 16 (17-18-20) sts from spare needle onto a st holder. Join yarn to rem sts and work in seed st to end of row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 9 (10-10-10) rows. 37 (41-44-48) sts.
Cont even in seed st until work from beg measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder shaping ending with WS facing for next row.
Shoulder shaping: Cast off 18 (20-22-24) sts beg next row.
Work 1 row even. Cast off rem 19 (21-22-24) sts.

SLEEVES
With smaller needles cast on 51 (48-51-48) sts.
Knit 11 rows noting first row is WS, and inc 3 sts evenly across last row. 54 (51-54-51) sts.
Change to larger needles and work 1st to 12th rows of pat as given for Back 7 times, AT SAME TIME, inc 1 st each end of needle on 5th and following 4th rows, taking inc sts into pat. 82 (79-82-79) sts.
Knit 8 rows. Beg with a knit row, cont in stocking st inc 1 st each end of next row and following 6th rows until there are 90 (95- 100-105) sts.
Cont even in stocking st until sleeve from beg measures 21 (21½-22-22) ins [53 (54.5-56-56) cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.

FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry.
Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 14 sts down left front neck edge. K16 (17-18-20) from front st holder. Pick up and knit 14 sts up right front neck edge. K34 (37-38-40) from back st holder. 78 (82-84-88) sts.
Knit 10 rows ending with WS facing for next row. Cast off.
Sew left shoulder and neckband seam. Place markers on front and back side edges 9 (-10- 10½) ins [23 (24-25.5-26.5) cm] down from shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves between markers.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
