BACK
With smaller needles, cast on 85 (91-97) sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
This row forms seed st pat.
Work in seed st for 1 inch [2.5 cm] ending with RS facing for next row, and inc 1 st at center of last row. 86 (92-98) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed as follows:
1st row: Purl.
2nd row: Knit.
3rd row: P2. *KB1. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
Last 2 rows form pat.
Cont in pat until work from beg measures 15 (16½-18) ins [38 (42-45.5) cm] ending with RS facing for next row.
Shoulder shaping: Cast off 9 (10-11) sts beg next 6 rows.
Cast off rem 32 sts.
Pocket Lining (Make 1).
With smaller needles, cast on 18 sts. Work 3½ ins [9 cm] in stocking st, ending with RS facing for next row and dec 1 st at center of last row. Leave these 17 sts on a st holder.

Pin garment pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry.
Buttonhole Band: With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 57 (63-69) sts up along right front edge between cast on and neck edges.
Work 3 rows in seed st as given for Back, ending with RS facing for next row.

Cont in pat until Collar, when slightly stretched, fits neck edge and ending with 18th row. Cast off.
Pocket Border: With RS of work facing and smaller needles, knit across 17 sts from pocket st holder.
Work ¾ inch [2 cm] in seed st as given for Back.
Cast off in pat.
Sew pocket edging in position on RS and pocket lining in position on WS. Place markers on Fronts and Back side edges 6½ (7-7½) ins [16.5 (18-19) cm] down from shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves placing rows above markers along cast off sts at armholes to form square armholes.
Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew collar in position as illustrated. Sew buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
