28 sts and 36 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

With A, cast on 189 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last row of Seed st pat 9 times more, ending with RS facing for next row.
Change to MC and proceed as follows:
1st row: Knit.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: K7. *K1. K2tog. yfwd. K1. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. K8. Rep from * to end of row.
5th row: K7. *K2tog. yfwd. K3. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. K7. Rep from * to end of row.
7th row: K7. *K2. yfwd. Sl1. K2tog. psso. yfwd. K9. Rep from * to end of row.
8th row: As 2nd row.
Rep last 8 rows until work from beg measures approx 29 ins [73.5 cm], ending with 8th row of pat.
Change to A and knit 1 row.
Proceed in Seed st pat for 9 rows, ending with RS facing for next row.
Cast off in pat.
Side Edging: With RS of work facing and A, beg at lower right corner of Blanket, pick up and knit 199 sts along Right side edge.
Work 9 rows in Seed st pat, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off in pat.
Rep for Left side edge.
Hood: With MC, cast on 55 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P2tog.
3rd row: *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
4th row: *K1. P1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2tog.
Rep last 4 rows to 2 sts.
Next row: K2tog. Fasten off.
Front Edging: With RS of work facing and A, pick up and knit 71 sts across longest side of triangle.
Work 5 rows in Seed st Pat. Cast off.
Sew Hood in position to upper left corner of Blanket, leaving Blanket edging free.

15th row: Purl. Break A.
16th row: (Picot row). With MC, K2. *yfwd. K2tog. Rep from * to end of row.
17th and alt rows: Purl.

Finishing
Pin Blanket to measurements and cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.
Fold Kitty Ears along Picot row and sew to Hood of Blanket, having A as inside of ear as shown in picture.
With A, embroider Kitty’s nose using Satin stitch and whiskers using Chain stitch (see Diagrams).
