|Sizes 3.75 mm (U.S. 5). Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) circular knitting needles 90 cm long. Sets of four 3.75 mm (U.S. 6) and 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain tension. 2 st holders.|
20 sts and 26 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Note: Body is worked in one piece to armholes.
When working from charts, carry yarn not in use loosely across WS of work but never over more than 5 sts. When it must pass over more than 5 sts, weave it over and under color in use on next st or at center point of sts it passes over. The colors are never twisted arnd one another.
With smaller circular needle and A, cast on 180 (192-208- 220) sts. Join in rnd and placing a marker on first st, proceed as follows:
1st rnd: *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of rnd.
Rep last rnd for (K2. P2) ribbing for 2 ins [5 cm] inc 0 (0-8-8) sts evenly across last rnd. 180 (192-216-228) sts.
Change to larger needle and knit 2 rnds.
Work Chart I to end of chart, reading rnds from right to left, noting the 12 st rep will be worked 15 (16-18-19) times.
With MC, cont even until work from beg measures 15 (16½-16½- 17) ins [38 (40.5-40.5-43) cm].
Next rnd: K6. Slip these 6 sts and last 6 sts of previous rnd onto a st holder (12 sts on st holder). K90 (96-108-114). Slip last 12 sts just worked onto second st holder. Knit to end of rnd.
With A and set of four smaller needles, cast on 40 (44-48-52) sts. Divide these sts onto 3 needles into 13 (15-16-17) sts on 1st and 2nd needles and 14 (14-16-18) sts on 3rd needle.
Join in rnd and placing a marker on first st, work 2 ins [5 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing, as given for body and inc 8 (4-0-8) sts evenly arnd. 48 (48-48-60) sts.
Change to set of four larger needles and knit 2 rnds.
Work Chart I to end of chart, reading rnds from right to left, noting the 12 st rep will be worked 4 (4-4-5) times.
With MC, cont knitting in rnds inc 1 st beg and end of next and following 4th rnds until there are 76 (82-88-92) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures 16½ (17½-18½-18½) ins [42 (44.5-47-47) cm].
Next rnd: K6. Slip these 6 sts and last 6 sts of previous rnd onto a st holder (12 sts on holder). Break yarn leaving 12 ins [30 cm] end for grafting.
With MC and larger circular needle, *knit across 64 (70-76- 80) sts of sleeve. Knit across 78 (84-96-102) sts of Body. Rep from * once more. Mark last st as end of rnd. 284 (308-344- 364) sts.
Next rnd: *K140 (152-170-89). K2tog. Rep from * around. 282 (306-342-360) sts.
Work Chart II to end of chart, reading rnds from right to left, noting the 6 st rep will be worked 47 (51-57-60) times.
Sizes P, S and M only: Next rnd: With A, *K139 (49-169). K2tog. Rep from * around. 280 (300-340) sts.
All sizes: With A, work 1 (5-5- 6) rnd(s) even.
Work Chart III to end of chart, reading rnds from right to left, noting the 20 st rep will be worked 14 (15-17-18) times. 112 (120-136-144) sts.
Next 2 rnds: With A, knit.
Next rnd: *With B, K12 (13-15- 16). K2tog. Rep from * around. 104 (112-128-136) sts.
Work 1 (1-1-2) rnd(s) even.
With A, work 1 (2-4-5) rnd(s) even.
Next rnd: *With A, K11 (12-14- 15). K2tog. Rep from * around. 96 (104-120-128) sts.
Neckband: Change to set of four smaller needles and work 3 ins [8 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing. Cast off in ribbing.
Graft Sleeves at underarms. Pin to measurements and cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry on garment.
