MATERIALS

Bernat Satin (100 g/3.5 oz;182 m/200 yds)
Stone () 1
Set of four size 4 mm (U.S. 6) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Cable needle (cn).

GAUGE

21 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 44 sts. Divide sts on 3 needles: (15, 15, 14).
Join in rnd, placing a marker on first st for beg of rnd. Work 1½ ins [4 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing, inc 4 sts evenly across last rnd. 48 sts.
1st rnd:*P3. K8. P3. K2. Rep from * around.
2nd rnd:*P3. C4B. C4F. P3. K2tog. yo. Rep from * around.
3rd rnd:As 1st rnd.
4th rnd:*P3. K8. P3. yo. Sl1. K1. psso. Rep from * around.
Rep last 4 rnds for pat until work from beg measures 6½ ins [16.5 cm].
Next rnd:Pat across 10 sts. Slip next 6 sts onto a safety pin. Cast on 6 sts over slipped sts. Pat to end of rnd.
Cont in pat for 1½ ins [4 cm] more, dec 4 sts evenly across last rnd. 44 sts.
Proceed in (K2. P2) ribbing for 1½ ins [4 cm].
Cast off loosely in ribbing.
Thumb:With RS facing, K6 from safety pin.
With second double-pointed needle, pick up and knit 8 sts at thumb opening. Divide 14 sts onto 3 needles (5, 4, 4). Join in rnd.
Knit in rnds until thumb measures 1¼ ins [3 cm]. Cast off.
