With MC, cast on 74 (78-86-90) sts.
1st row: (RS). K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P2. *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
3rd row: P2. *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
4th row: K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
These 4 rows form box st pat.
Work a further 64 (64-64-66) rows in pat, ending with RS facing for next row.
Ar mhole shaping: Cast off 4 (5-6-7) sts beg next 2 rows. Keeping cont of pat, dec 1 st each end of needle on next and following 4 (4-6-6) alt rows. 56 (58-60-62) sts.
Work a further 27 (31-29-29) rows pat, ending with RS facing for next row.
Neck shaping: Next row: Pat across
18 (18-19-19) sts (neck edge). Cast off

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew pocket linings in position to WS. With A, work blanket st edging around armhole edge, neck and front edges and across pocket opening. Place markers on side edges 3 ins [8 cm] above lower edge. Sew side seams to markers. With A, work blanket st edging around side slit openings. Sew buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
Pin to measurements and cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry on garment.
