MEASUREMENTS

Throw measures approximately 60"/152.5cm wide x 78"/198cm long.

One size US I-9 (5.5mm), or size to obtain gauge. Yarn needle.
Simply Soft Paints (113 g/4. oz;190 m/208 yds)

GAUGE

In double crochet, 13 sts and 6 rows = 4"/10cm. Gauge is not critical for this project.

INSTRUCTIONS

dc5tog: Double crochet 5 stitches together—[Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 5 times, yarn over and draw through all 6 loops on hook, ch 1. Note: The ch-1 forms the top of the dc5tog. Do not forget to work the ch-1 to complete the dc5tog. When working into a dc5tog in next row, work into the ch-1 only.
Bead Stitch: [Yarn over, insert hook around the post of previous dc, yarn over and draw up a loop] 3 times, yarn over and draw through first 6 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through last 2 loops on hook.
 
NOTES
1. The first triangle has 6 Bead sts on each side (total 12 Bead sts). All other triangles have 6 Bead sts along one side and 5 Bead sts along the other side (total 11 Bead sts).
2. Take care when working into dc5tog sts, in the next row, work only into the ch-1 of the st.
 
LONG STRIP (make 5 – 3 with A, 1 with B, and 1 with C)
Ch 38.
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 3rd ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first dc) and in next 14 ch, dc5tog over next 5 ch, dc in next 16 ch, turn—33 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next 2 dc, work Bead st, sk next dc, dc in next 10 dc, dc5tog over next 5 sts (note: the next 5 sts are 2 dc, the ch-1 of the dc5tog, and the next 2 dc), dc in next 11 dc, work Bead st, sk next dc, dc in last 2 dc, turn—29 sts.
Row 3: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in next 8 sts, dc5tog, dc in next 9 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn—25 sts.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in next 6 sts, dc5tog, dc in next 7 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn—21 sts.
Row 5: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in next 4 sts, dc5tog, dc in next 5 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn—17 sts.

Row 7: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, work Bead st, sk next st, dc5tog, dc in next st, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn—9 sts.
Row 8: Ch 16, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 ch count as first dc) and in next 12 ch, dc in next 2 dc, dc5tog, dc in last 2 sts, turn—19 sts.
Row 9: Ch 16, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 ch count as first dc) and in next 12 ch, dc5tog, dc in next 11 dc, work Bead st, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn—29 sts.
Rows 10–14: Repeat Rows 3­–7.
Rows 15–77: Repeat Rows 8–14 nine more times.
Row 78: Ch 2, dc in next dc, dc5tog, dc in last 2 dc, turn—5 dc.
Row 79: Dc5tog.
Fasten off.
 
SHORT STRIP (make 6 – 2 each with A, B, and C)
Work same as long strip through Row 14.
Rows 15–70: Repeat Rows 8–14 of long strip eight more times.
Rows 71 and 72: Work Rows 78 and 79 of long strip.
Fasten off.
 
FINISHING
Arrange strips, with long edges together, in following strip sequence: Short Strip A, Long Strip B, Short Strip C, Long Strip A, Short Strip B, Long Strip A, Short Strip C, Long Strip A, Short Strip B, Long Strip C, Short Strip A. Whipstitch the strips together.
Edging
With RS facing and B, join yarn in corner of throw to work down a long edge.
Round 1: Ch 3, [work 32 dc evenly across first 2 strips, *work 3 dc in point of strip, work 14 dc evenly across to just before center point of next strip; repeat from * to end of last strip] 4 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Fasten off. Note: 3 dc are worked in points of all strips, including those points that appear in "valleys" and those that appear on "peaks".
Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
