Size 6.5 mm (U.S. K/10½) crochet hook or size needed to obtain tension. 4 stitch markers.

GAUGE

11 sc and 12 rows = 4" [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ). Numbers for each size are shown in the same color throughout the pattern. When only one number is given in black, it applies to all sizes.

Notes: Shrug is worked in one piece beg at bottom and working upward. Short seams are sewn for sleeves. Edging is crocheted around sleeve openings.

Ch 74 (82-90-98-106).
Foundation row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn.

Proceed in Ruled Lattice Pat (multiple of 4 + 1) as follows:
1st row: Ch 6 (counts as dc and ch 3). Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. *Ch 7. Miss next 3 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sc. Ch 3. Miss next sc. 1 dc in last sc. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *Ch 3. 1 sc in next ch-7 sp. Rep from * to last turning ch 6. 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch 6. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *3 sc in next ch-3 sp. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
These 1st to 3rd rows form Ruled Lattice Pat.
Cont in pat until work from beg measures 14 ( 16-18-20-22)" [35.5 (40.5-45.5-51-56) cm], ending on
3rd row of pat. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Place stitch markers 3" [7.5 cm] from each side for sleeve seams.
Sew sleeve seams.
Join yarn with sl st at sleeve seam at sleeve opening. Ch 1. Work in sc around sleeve opening. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Rep for other sleeve.
