Size 5 mm (U.S. H/8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE

13 sc and 14 rows = 4" [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

 

With MC, ch 6.

1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 5 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 10 sc.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 2 sc. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc) 4 times. Turn. 14 sc.
Note: Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as hdc.
4th row: Ch 2 . 1 hdc in each of next 2 sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 hdc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * end of row. Turn.
5th row: Ch 2. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. Rep from to last 2 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
6th row: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last 3 hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 3 hdc. Turn.
7th row: Ch 2. *1 hdc in next hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last 3 hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.

Fasten off.

"Vertical Sections"
Turn work upside down. With RS facing, join A with sl st to first ch-1 sp. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. *1 sc in next ch-1 sp 1 row up. Rep from * to last ch-1 sp. Fasten off.
Rep for other 'Vertical Sections' (4 in total).

Edging: Join A with sl st to first rem loop of foundation ch. Ch 1. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly around edge of Dishcloth. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
