Canadiana (100 g/3.5 oz;187 m/205 yds)
Main Color (MC) Dark Grey Mix (10042) 2
Contrast A Deep Orchid (10332) 2
Size U.S. H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE

14 sc and 17 rows = 4" [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

COWL
Stripe Pat

With MC, work 1 row.
With A, work 1 row.
These 2 rows form Stripe Pat.
With MC ch 128.
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 1 hdc). 1 hdc in each ch to end of chain. Join A. Turn. 126 hdc.
2nd row: With A, ch 2 (does not count as hdc). *Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar created between stitches of previous row (bar is below loops normally worked)(see diagram). Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 126 hdc.
First 2 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.
Cont in Stripe Pat, rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 8" [20.5 cm], ending with 1 row of MC. Fasten off.
Sew side edges tog to form Cowl.

BOW
Notes
:
1. When joining colors, work to last 2 loops on hook of first color. Draw new color through last 2 loops then proceed.
2. Carry color when not in use loosely across top of previous rnd and work sts around it to avoid stranding.
With MC, ch 84. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring, taking care not to twist ch.

1st rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Join with sl st to first sc. 84 sc.
2nd rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. With A, 1 popcorn st in next sc. *With MC, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. With A, 1 popcorn st in next sc. Rep from * to last 4 sc. With MC, 1 sc in each of last 4 sc. Join with sl st to first sc.
3rd rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc.
4th rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 4 sc. With A, 1 popcorn st in next sc. *With MC, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. With A, 1 popcorn st in next sc. Rep from * to last sc. With MC, 1 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc.
5th rnd: As 3rd rnd.
Rep 2nd to 5th rnds for pat until work from beg measures 8" [20.5 cm], ending on a 3rd or 5th rnd.
Fasten off.

Bow Center
With MC, ch 11.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each ch to end of row. Turn.
Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 6" [15 cm]. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew Bow Center around Bow and Cowl as shown in picture.
