GAUGE

In pattern stitch (sc, dc), 16 sts and 14 rows = 4”/10cm

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE

Pillow is worked side to side and shaping occurs at beginning and end of row.

 

FRONT AND BACK (make 2 pieces)

With A, ch 14.

Row 1 (RS): Skip 1st ch, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across, turn – 13 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, (sc, dc) in 1st st, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across to last 2 sts, sc, (dc, sc) in last st, turn – 15 sts.

Rows 3–10: Rep Row 2 – 31 sts.

Row 11: Ch 1, (sc, dc) in 1st st, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across, turn – 32 sts.

Row 12: Ch 1, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across to last 2 sts, sc, (dc, sc) in last st, turn – 33 sts.

Row 13: Rep Row 11 – 34 sts.

Row 14: Ch 1, hdc2tog, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across to last 2 sts, sc, (dc, sc) in last st, turn – 34 sts.

Row 15: Ch 1, (sc, dc) in 1st st, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across to last 3 sts, sc, hdc2tog, turn – 34 sts.

Rows 16–23: Rep Rows 14 and 15 – 34 sts.

Row 24: Ch 1, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across, turn – 34 sts.

POCKET

With B, ch 17.

Row 1: Skip 1st ch, [sc in next ch, dc in next ch] across, turn – 16 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, [sc in next st, dc in next st] across, turn.

Rows 3–18: Rep Row 2, do not fasten off.

Edging

At end of Row 18, 3 dc in last st, pivot work 90 degrees to right, [sc, dc] in ends of rows across, 3 dc in 1st st of Row 1, [sc, dc] across to last st, 3 dc in last st, [sc, dc] in ends of rows, 2 dc in 1st st of Row 18, join with a sl st to 1st st of Row 18. Fasten off.

Sew pocket to pillow front.

 

FINISHING

Join Front and Back, and Edge Pillow

Hold WS of front and back together. Working through both thicknesses, join yarn with a sc at widest point of pillow.

Rnd 1: Working through both thicknesses, sc evenly spaced around pillow to widest point on opposite side. Stuff pillow with fiberfill. Sc across, join with a sl st to first sc, do not turn.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, bs in each sc around. Fasten off.

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
