17 sc and 20 rows = 4" [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 34.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 33 sc.
2nd to 4th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
5th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 6. Miss next 3 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
6th row: Ch 8 (counts as 1 dtr and ch 3). 1 sc in first ch-6 sp. *Ch 6. 1 sc in next ch-6 sp. Rep from * to last sc. Ch 3. 1 dtr in last sc. Turn.
7th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first dtr. *Ch 6. 1 sc in next ch-6 sp. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
6th and 7th rows form pat.
Cont in pat until Scarf measures approx 50" [127 cm], ending with 7th row.

Next row: (WS). Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *3 sc in next ch-6 sp. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. 33 sc.
Next 3 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Top edging: 1st row: (WS). Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 sc. *Ch 9. Miss next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. Rep from * to last 6 sc. Ch 9. Miss next 3 sc. 1 sc in next 3 sc. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 2 sc. Ch 5. 1 sc in next ch-9 sp. *Ch 5. Miss next sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Ch 5. Rep from * to last 3 sc. Miss next sc. 1 sc in each of last 2 sc. Turn.
