Size 3.25 mm (U.S. 3) crochet hook or size needed to obtain tension. ⅓ yd [30 cm] of 45 ins [115 cm] wide fabric.

GAUGE

17 dc and 8 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 10.

1st row: (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in 4th ch from hook. Miss next 5 ch. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in next ch -shell made. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 6. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 3. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Ch 2. Miss next 2 dc. 1 dc in last dc of shell. Ch 2. 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch 6. Turn.
4th row: Ch 6. Miss first dc. (1 dc in next dc. Ch 2) twice. (Shell in next ch 2 sp) twice. Turn.
5th row: Ch 3. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Ch 2. Miss next 2 dc. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 2. 1 dc in next dc) twice. Ch 2. 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch 6. Turn.
6th row: Ch 6. Miss first dc. (1 dc in next dc. Ch 2) 4 times. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Turn.
7th row: Ch 3. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Ch 2. Miss next 2 dc. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 2. 1 dc in next dc) 4 times. Ch 2. 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch 6. Turn.
8th row: Ch 6. Miss first dc. (1 dc in next dc. Ch 2) 6 times. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Turn.
9th row: Ch 3. (Shell in next ch-2 sp) twice. Turn.
Rep 2nd to 9th rows once more, then 2nd to 8th rows once. Fasten off.
Loop: Ch 4.
1st row: Shell in 4th ch from hook. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 3. Shell in ch-2 sp. Turn.
Rep last row until loop measures 4 ins [10 cm]. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Place Edging and Loop flat onto ironing board. Cover with a damp pressing cloth and apply a hot iron.
Remove from ironing board when dry.
Cut fabric following Diagram for front and back of stocking adding a¼ inch [6 mm] seam allowance. Sew front and back of Stocking tog.
Tassel: (make 3). Cut a piece of cardboard 1¾ ins [4.5 cm] wide.
Wind yarn around cardboard 35 times. Break yarn leaving a long end and thread end through a needle.
Slip needle through all loops and tie tightly. Remove cardboard and wind yarn tightly around loops ¼ inch [6 mm] below fold. Fasten securely.
Cut through rem loops and trim ends evenly.
Sew tassels as shown. Sew edging onto front of Stocking. Sew Loop as shown.
