Size 8 mm (U.S. L/11) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Two 1 1/4" [3 cm] buttons.

GAUGE

8 sc and 9 rows = 4" [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 23.

1st row: (RS). 2 sc in 4th ch from hook (count as 1 dc and 2 sc). Ch 2. 2 sc in next ch. *Miss next 2 ch. 2 sc in next ch. Ch 2. 2 sc in next ch. Rep from * to last 2 ch. Miss next ch. 1 sc in last ch. Turn. 21 sc.
2nd to 5th rows: Ch 3 (count as dc). (2 sc. Ch 2. 2 sc) in each ch-2 sp, ending with 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch 3. Turn.
Do not fasten off.

Edging: Work sc evenly down side edge, 2 sc in first corner, sc evenly along foundation ch and 2 sc at 2nd corner. Work along rem side edge as follows: *Ch 3. Miss next 2 rows. Work 1 sc up side edge. Rep from * once more. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew buttons onto opposite edge to correspond with button loops.
