GAUGE

13.5 hdc and 10 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger crochet hook.

INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger size(s) the instructions will be written thus ( ). Numbers for each size are shown in the same color throughout the pattern. When only one number is given in black, it applies to all sizes.

Note: Bolero is worked in one piece to armholes. Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as stitch.
With larger crochet hook, ch 52 (56-58- 60-64).

1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of row. Turn. 50 (54-56-58-62) hdc.
2nd row: Ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each hdc to last hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
Rep last row 5 (7-8-9-9) times more. 62 (70-74-78-82) hdc.
Work 1(1-2-1-1) row even.
Divide for armholes: 1st row: (RS). Ch 2. Yoh and draw up a loop in each of first 2 hdc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – Hdc2tog made.
1 hdc in each of next 6 (8-9-9-10) hdc. Hdc2tog over next 2 hdc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Work on these 8 (10- 11-11-12) sts for Left Front.
**2nd to 4th rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn.
5th row: Ch 2. Hdc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog over last 2 sts. Turn.
Rep last 4 rows 1 (2-2-2-3) time(s) more. 4 (4-5-5-4) sts.

Sizes 2 and 8 only: Next 2 rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn.

All sizes: Next row: (WS). Ch 2. Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. (1 hdc in next hdc) 0 (0- 1-1-0) time. Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. Turn. 2 (2-3-3-2) sts.

Sizes 2, 4 and 10 only: Next row: Ch 2. Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. Fasten off.

Leave rem sts unworked. Work on these 32 (36-38-38-40) sts for Back.

SLEEVES

1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 18 (20-21-23-24) hdc.
2nd and 3rd rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Turn.
4th row: (Increase row). Ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each hdc to last hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
5th row: As 2nd row.
Rep last 2 rows 5 (5-7-8-9) times more. 30 (32-37-41-44) hdc.
Cont even until work from beg measures 51/2 (61/2-7-81/2-10) ins [14 (16.5-18- 21.5-25.5) cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Shape raglans: 1st row: Sl st in each of first 4 (5-5-5-6) hdc. Hdc2tog over same sp as last sl st and next st. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 5 (6-6-6-7) hdc. Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 2. Hdc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 hdc in each st to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog over last 2 sts. Turn.
Rep 2nd and 3rd rows 2 (4-2-2-4) times more, then 3rd row 5 (3-7-9-7) times more. 6 (6-7-7-8) sts. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Pin garment pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.
Body edging: Sew raglan seams.
***With smaller hook, ch 4.
1st row: (RS). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in 4th ch from hook. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 6. Sl st in 3rd ch from hook – Picot made. Ch 2. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in ch-2 sp. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 3. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in ch-2 sp. Turn.***
Rep 2nd and 3rd rows until work measures length to fit entire outer edge around body of Bolero.
Beg at center bottom of back, sew edging around outer edge of Bolero as you work.
Sleeve edging: Work from *** to *** as given for Body edging. Rep 2nd and 3rd rows until work measures length to fit bottom edge of Sleeve. Sew edging to bottom of Sleeve.
Sew Sleeve seams.
