INSTRUCTIONS

MOTIF (Make 143)
With MC, ch 5. Join with sl st to form a ring.
1st rnd: (1 sc. 1 dc. 1 sc) 4 times in ring. 4 petals. Sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: *Ch 2. From WS, ss to base of first sc of next petal. Rep from * twice more. Ch 2. Sl st to base of first ch 2.
3rd rnd: *(4 dc. 1 ss) in next ch-2 loop. Rep from * 3 times more. Join A. Fasten off MC.
4th rnd: With A, *Ch 3. From WS, sl st in base of next sl st of previous rnd. Rep from * 3 times more.
5th rnd: *(7 dc. 1 sl st) in next ch-3 loop. Rep from * 3 times more.
6th rnd: *Ch 5. From WS, sl st in base of next sl st of previous rnd. Rep from* 3 times more.
7th rnd: *(9 dc. 1 sl st) in next ch- 3 loop. Rep from * 3 times more. Join B. Fasten off A.
8th rnd: With B, ch 3. 2 dc in sl st just made. *Ch 2. (3 dc. Ch 1. 3 dc) in 5th dc of next petal. Ch 2. 3 dc in sp before next petal. Rep from * ending with ch 2. Sl st in top of ch 3. Fasten off B.
9th rnd: Join C with sl st in any corner ch-1 sp between two 3 dc groups. Ch 3. (2 dc. Ch 1. 3 dc) in same sp. Ch 2. *(3 dc in next ch space. Ch 2) twice.** (3 dc. Ch 1. 3 dc) in next corner sp. Ch 2. Rep from * twice more, then from * to ** once. Join with sl st to top of first ch 3. Fasten off.
To join motifs: With C and RS of 2 squares facing, sl st in back loops only of each st across both squares. Join motifs tog in strips of 11 motifs. Join the 13 strips tog in the same manner.
Edging: With RS of afghan facing, join C with sl st to any corner sp and proceed as follows:
1st rnd: Ch 1. Work 2 sc in same corner sp. *1 sc in next and every st to next corner sp. 3 sc in corner sp. Rep from * twice more. 1 sc in next and every st to first corner space. Sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: As 1st rnd. Fasten off.
