SPECIAL TERMS

FPdc: Front-post double crochet—(RS)Yarn over, insert hook from right-hand side of stitch to WS of piece, return to RS at left-hand side of stitch indicated, yo and pull up loop, complete as dc.

Puff—Yarn over, insert hook in indicated space, yarn over and draw up a loop, [yarn over, insert hook in same space, yarn over and draw up a loop] twice, yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook.

STRIP 1 (make 2)

Chain 33.

Row 1: Sc in third ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch; repeat from * across, turn—16 sc, 15 ch-1 spaces, and beginning ch.

Row 2: Ch 2, sc in first ch-1 space, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to last sc, ch 1, skip last sc, sc in beginning ch-space, turn—16 sc, 15 ch-1 spaces, and turning ch.

JOINING STRIPS

Arrange strips with long edges together in the following order: Strip 1, Strip 2, Strip 3, Strip 2, Strip 3, Strip 2, Strip 1.

Join Long Edges of Two Strips:

Join yarn with slip st in center sc of top corner of one of the Strips; ch 1, hold neighboring Strip close to work, slip st in corresponding center sc of corner, *ch 1; returning to first Strip, skip next sc, slip st in next sc, ch 1; skip next sc on second Strip, slip st in next sc of second Strip; repeat from * until Strips are joined along long edges to the next corner. Fasten off. Join other long edges in same manner until all Strips are joined.

FINISHING

Border

Join yarn with slip st in center sc of any corner.

Round 1: Ch 1, work 3 sc in same sc; work 3 sc in each remaining corner, work 221 sc evenly spaced along long sides, work 77 sc evenly spaced along short sides; join with slip st in first sc.

Round 2: Slip st in next sc, ch 2 (counts as first dc), 6 dc in same sc, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc, skip next 3 sc, *7 dc in next sc, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc, skip next 3 sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *ch 2, sc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.
